Guidance from TFG’s editorial team
The TFG Accelerate Scholarship offers the top applicant a grant of $1,000 to contribute towards academic studies in a certain number of disciplines related to international trade.
This will help improve your understanding of the complexities and structures of trade finance, and put you in good stead for a career in the international trade industry.
Our Accelerate Scholarship rewards excellence and originality, recognising new ideas with the potential to disrupt and innovate the international trade landscape.
Deadline for applications is midnight on the 22nd February 2022.
You can apply for a TFG Accelerate scholarship if you are over 18 and can demonstrate that you are in an eligible field.
Please note, you will need to demonstrate that one of the above subjects is a major or a minor constituent of your degree to be eligible.
The Accelerate Scholarship is organised by Trade Finance Global and was initiated in 2018 to address the trade finance education gap, due to a lack of suitably skilled and qualified specialists in the sector – in a challenging time of reduced global trade, a significant shortfall in skilled entrants in the shipping and marine space, and general confusion around the trade finance market.
Following Brexit, the pandemic and the lingering global supply chain crisis, TFG believes educating future leaders of the international trade industry is now more important than ever.
There is a two stage application process for the Scholarship.
After the initial screening to ensure you are eligible, TFG will ask you to write a report or article on a topic of your choice within the sector. It will be a review (literature review, short journal, or equivalent) on a subject matter that will be relevant to the Scholarship.

Participating in the TFG competition was an immensely fulfilling experience. In essence, it was the ‘capstone’ of my undergraduate stint at the University of Warwick; a culmination of the Economics knowledge I gained from the incredible and highly distinguished Prof. Elizabeth Jones. As I delved deeper into the Sino-US trade conflict, I was amazed by the intricate, interwoven nature of geopolitics – particularly the conjoint relationship between the political arena and the global economy.
Having been selected from a global pool of over 2,000 applicants, including several doctoral candidates, I was pleasantly surprised to have won the international competition. Indeed, the profound insights I developed through my research served as the kindling of my passion for Economics & Finance, which guided me to pursue higher education at the Yale School of Management, where I in turn had the invaluable opportunity to learn from the esteemed Prof. Joyee Deb.
